Webism Group of Worldwide Artists

Pygoya/USA (Founder of Webism in 1999) and Ingrid Kamerbeek/Germany founded the Webism Group of Worldwide Artists in November 2003 after their 1st European Art Tour. Webism and Webists - By Dr. Rodney Chang (Pygoya) - The beginnings of a new art movement embedded on the Internet can be found at www.lastplace.com/page48.htm. It was written along with the rest of my "Truly Virtual Web Art Museum" back in 1997 as content for my inaugural Web site, www.lastplace.com. The Internet offered the opportunity to break out of local physical and cultural isolation for artists, and with such zeal I wrote with idealism for the then unwelcome, 'homeless," digital art to cultivate the new virtual space. From this declaration of a new "Webism" and cyberart, a condensed "manifesto" was written and is available at www.lastplace.com/webism.htm. Any artist, no matter what medium he or she works in, is invited if the goals and missions of the manifesto are agreed upon. Along with embracing our mission to contribute to online cyber culture, the artist must have a Web site with original art only found on the Internet. There are no fees. The Webists became an active group after 2001 with the spiritual leadership of Ingrid Kamerbeek and Dr. Hans Turstig. Today we number 60 members spanning many nations around the globe. We are proud to have executed many online projects and keep documentation of such online cultural efforts and contributions at http://www.artingrid.de/webismprojects.htm. But besides our ongoing online activity, the group has organized several physical exhibitions, including group shows in the Hawaiian museum - East Hawaii Cultural Center, the Frankfurt International Airport, the Vienna Museum Complex in Austria, the diplomatic district of Budapest, and in a French castle! So like all other artists, we maximize the opportunity to show and promote anywhere, online and offline, at home or abroad. Like "The Three Musketeers," we live by the motto, "All for one and one for all." In essence, each of us has 60 art agents scattered around the globe. The lack of show opportunity from geographical isolation has ended for the membership. For any artist interested to learn more about our group, please visit group coordinator Ingrid Kamerbeek's http://www.artingrid.de. Now is a good time to join as we are in development in constructing one of the largest 3-D art sites for the Internet using specialized software still in development. The visitor will seem to be walking through gallery after gallery of 3-dimensional space but not be in cumbersome VRML. Our MuseumOfWebism.com will have unlimited memory available on a dedicated server so growth of the "collections" can be unlimited. All exhibitions posted will be online in perpetuity. As Webists, we make art online to last. Webism is featured on Shankar Baruas, New Delhi/India CD Gazette #7: http://retiary.net/idea/idea7/idea_7/webism/webism.htm
To join Webism you need to have a website of your own. Only members with a reciprocal link to Webism will receive our Webism News. How to join > http://www.artingrid.de/join.htm The Webism Manifesto is not a discussion paper. It was set up by Pygoya long before the Webism group was founded. It is the foundation of Webism. By joining the group you agree with this paper. Some artists want to join a forum and some won't. Of course you can join any of the available Webism Forums set up by different members but you don't need to join. We live in a free world. Webists come together to work on on- and offline projects and exhibitions. We are working together for culture and peace. We are a group of DOERS not merely a discussion group. If you do not agree with the above mentioned please don't join us. We are not a debating club! Every Webist may set up projects and exhibitons under her/his responsibility from the beginning to the end. Webists may join or not. There may also be guest artists. Total freedom. No polls needed. But of course: As co-founders of the "Webism Group of Worldwide Artists" we reserve the right to accept Webism projects and/or exhibitions or not. We also reserve the right to accept new members or not as well as to exclude members who doesn't work in accordance with the rules stated on this page. Webists may ONLY use the official Webism mailing list (ask Ingrid) to address the group.
